We can all agree that getting stuck in traffic, spilling coffee on our new dress, burning ourself with the hair curler; all these things can affect our mood to where we are irritated and easily provoked.
These mistakes and vexations were not the fault of a person. Yet we project our problems onto people. When we’re tired and hungry, or have been through said circumstances, we’ll be short and rude with people who had nothing to do with it. We’ll speak sharply to our children; lose patience quickly with our spouse and overall drag everyone else through the mud with us.
This is simply unacceptable. We need to have the self control not to take our anger and frustration out on innocent bystanders.The people around us are innocent of trying to sabotage an already terrible day.
On another note, the people we care about will be much more sympathetic and likely to help us get through our mishaps if we can separate our circumstances from them and keep those ugly emotions to ourself!
